Hisense Dehumidifier Troubleshooting: What the Manual Actually Says

The honest answer on error codes

Hisense does not publish an error code table for its dehumidifiers. We went through the manuals and the support site and found no code list anywhere. The Hisense DH7019K1G manual says only this: “If the dehumidifier displays an error code, please contact Hisense customer service.”

That matters, because search for “Hisense dehumidifier E9” and you will find plenty of confident answers. Every one we could trace led back to JustAnswer, FixYa or a content farm — not a single manufacturer source. The same goes for E1, E2 and E3 attributed to Hisense units. We are not going to repeat them as fact.

One caveat in the interest of being straight with you: two official Hisense PDFs are image-only scans that could not be machine-read, so this is “no code table found in what is readable” rather than proof that none exists anywhere. If your unit shows a code, the answer is the same either way — call 1-877-465-3566 with your model number.

What follows is everything Hisense does document, and it explains most of the complaints people bring to a code table in the first place.

From the Hisense DH2524K1W manual and Use & Care Guide 4004815-01. The 38°F figure is genuinely lower than the 41°F that GE, Frigidaire, Midea and hOmeLabs all specify.

The 38°F minimum is worth knowing if you are running one in a cool basement or a garage — a Hisense unit will keep working in conditions where a 41°F-rated machine has already given up. It is a narrow margin, but it is real and it is documented.

Above 90°F, the DH7019K1G manual notes that the internal temperature trips a protective device. So both ends of the range have consequences.

The filter light, and the reset most people miss

Hisense uses a 180-hour timer. How you clear it depends on whether your model has a dedicated button:

  • Models with a Clean Filter button: the light “will remain on for 180 hours or until you press Clean Filter.” After 180 hours it turns off by itself.
  • DH2524K1W and similar, with no dedicated button: “Press the POWER button for 5 seconds after cleaning and replacing the air filter to reset the filter monitor.”

That five-second POWER hold is the single most useful thing on this page for a lot of owners. It is buried in the manual, it is not obvious, and holding POWER normally just switches the unit off.

De-icing, not auto-defrost

Hisense calls it a de-icing function and describes it precisely: “The de-icing function will turn off the compressor if a low temperature condition occurs. When the de-icer senses the correct operating temperature the compressor will cycle back on.”

So a Hisense unit that keeps stopping and starting in a cold room is not faulty — it is de-icing. If it happens constantly, the room is too cold for useful dehumidification regardless of what the machine can survive. Our guide on using a dehumidifier in winter covers what to do instead.

Resets and power interruptions

There is no documented button-combination reset. What Hisense does document is the behaviour after a power cut: “Each time you unplug the dehumidifier or power is interrupted, the controls will return to the previous settings when power is restored.”

Combined with the 3-minute compressor delay, that covers most “it stopped working after a power cut” reports. Unplug, wait, plug back in, then give it three full minutes.

Recalls: none

Hisense does not appear in any dehumidifier recall in the CPSC database. Its own product safety recall page lists only a French-door refrigerator, recalled in June 2022.
